Ms. Cecilia Guzman, Parent Mentor through SWOP

A hero has many contributions to his community. A hero has many functions towards their society. An example of a hero is Cecilia Guzman. Cecilia Guzman is a Chicago Southside community hero. Cecilia Guzman works as a parent mentor at her sons' elementary school. She has few years working as a mentor. Cecilia Guzman has a short education, only getting through her freshman year of high school. Cecilia Guzman had to drop out of school to help support her family.

Cecilia Guzman is a parent mentor. She works to help kids in their schoolwork. Cecilia Guzman says she is there to support the children in anything they need. When she is around her children they seem comfortable and concentrated. Cecilia Guzman is also a housewife. She takes care of her kids and tries to give them the support they need. When we asked her how she felt towards helping the community she said, "I get a good feeling when I help out." Cecilia Guzman is involved in the community. She has some challenges though. She says her son is doing poor in school and she is trying to help him pick up. This is one of the main reasons that she started to become a parent mentor.

Heroes become heroes by values they have just like those that Cecilia Guzman displays. She enjoys helping the community. She wants to be around her children more. She said, " As long as my child is safe, I would sacrifice anything for him." Mrs.Guzman also that her smallest son is the reason for her beginning to help out other parents in the community.She told us that when she saw that her child started to show trouble in his grades she instantly knew that she had to inter vein .She chose to live in this community because it was safe and she saw potential in it.

Cecilia Guzman considers herself a hero to her children because a hero is someone that helps others out.For example, she considers herself as a hero because she is always there for her sons that need a boost.Another reason is that she is there for her community. She goes to a school that guides other students that need help.She is always trying to do the best at pushing her family in the right direction.She also stopped her education in the past to aid her family and to work and get money ,"I am what I am thanks to my parents that educated and pushed me forward".
